Final Infographic

For this project, there wasn’t anything in particular I am proud about, so I’ll skip through most of it. All of my progress is in my visual diary, so this post will highlight the most important things in it.

My topic: How instant noodles harm the body

First thing I did was research.. A LOT. There is research about the topic and there is research for visual communication as well.

Second, I started experimenting and sketching.

Third, there was a lot of digital development involved. Here are a few pictures from the beginning and a few from the very end:

The last picture is of the final one. This if the final one because there is a clear hierarchy and the flow is there so it is easy to read. The rest is kind of messy as well, so it wasn’t the best choice. For the colors, I chose these colors because it was the best choice for my concept.

Cranes & Infographic

So this week I’m going to combine 2 blog posts.

Last week we were asked to create a crane composition. We had to deconstruct cranes and make our own compositions. Here are the pictures from start to finish:

I thought I should do some creative word play, but an abstract result was encouraged out of all of us, so here is the final product:

These were made in groups, my group mate was Asa.

Infographics were started this week and we were asked to make one on our chosen topics. We also had to make an animation of it for animation class.

I will update when everything is done on the final week.

3 Posters

So this week we are supposed to bring 3 posters into class. The posters are determined by the 3 topics we chose in class the week before. The topics I chose were: racism, health/biology and animals.

My concept for racism: PSA

My concept for health: a geometric heart

My concept for animals: just a cute animal

Here are the posters pictures:

My poster for biology was voted as number 2 because it conveyed a lot of emotions. Next week we will be deconstructing pictures of cranes.

Moodboards and Presentations

Today in class, we presented some documentation we took at Sekolah Kami in Bekasi. I created a 30 second awareness video and an 11 picture long picture series.

I will update this when my upload quota is full again

Sekolah Kami – Video and Photo Series

So for class, we went to Sekolah Kami, which is a school for “scavengers” or pemulung. At their school, we were able to take photos and socialise with the kids who were very friendly and somewhat curious.

What I got from the visit was that the place was very humble, homey and very hot. The people there were friendly, curious and energetic.

To understand the two (people and place) better, I decided to make the 30 second video about their living conditions and the photo series about the children.

My video’s theme will be about “Beauty in the smallest details”. This video will showcase a lot of small details that I noticed in their institute. Rusted locks, bamboo, wooden furniture and all. Of course the video will be a little romanticised, but I do believe that it is that beautiful.

My photo series will be based on the kids. They found happiness in such small things that I decided it would be a good topic for the series. I will be focusing on the kids and how they interact with their surroundings.

UPDATE!!

So after looking at my photos again, I decided to switch the concepts that I used. The concept “Beauty in the smallest details” will be used for the photo series and the concept “Happiness and curiosity” will be used for the video

Here are some of the pictures I will be using. I will also include a few pictures using Snapchat filters in the final video:

Here are some of the unedited pictures of my photo series:
