HTML & CSS (codeacademy) and Grids

For the second week, we did another codeacademy session on HTML and CSS. Here are a few screenshots of the exercise:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These were the first things we learnt, excluding the parts that were pretty self explanatory, teaching us about the headings (h1, h2, h3), paragraphs (p), adding media (<a> tag with href),etc. It was pretty repetitive and easy to remember. The screenshots above is on how to style and create divisions.

Here is an example with a header and a paragraph tag. the h3 tag means that this isn’t the biggest sized header since the tags go as h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 in descending order.

this example shows links, decorated by css. this determines the colors when static and when the mouse hovers over it. The css is where the styling of the HTML happens, it decorates by linking to the HTML and using tags or classes, they can determine color, font, anything style-able basically.

We also learnt to make tables, lists<li> (<ol> and <ul>), then the course is complete.

Grids –

This website was used to explain grids and the typical grid measurements for web design.
