City Rebranding – Concept & Postcards

After the logo was done, I decided what area of Samarinda I wanted to promote. Looking at my concept, nature, I decided tourism would be the best way to go. At this point, I want to appeal to families and people who like to travel and discover. Here, I thought of the concept “Take me home” or “Take a piece of Samarinda home”. This to me is a pretty cool idea, especially if I am able to execute it well. After I had the idea, I decided to do some exploration with photoshop. Here’s a picture of my very first postcard rendition:

This is just a VERY VERY ROUGH draft. I QCed with this and it was somewhat approved. So I refined this in class as well. Here are my other renditions:


I was suggested to simplify the bottles and ended up using vectorised ones. After asking for more opinions and more Qc, I was suggested to simplify the whole thing, so I used a vectorised scenery as well. The third one looked good to me so I made another two to complete the postcard series and so that I can move on to the brochures:

After the brochures were done, I made the back and continued on to the brochure, with the same concept in mind.
